Perkins continues its sponsorship of the Perkins Great Eastern Run until 2018
Perkins Engines Company Limited, principal sponsor of the Perkins Great Eastern Run, has pledged its support to the Eastern region’s premier road race for another three years.
The Perkins Great Eastern Run, which now attracts more than 5,000 half marathon entrants and over 1,000 fun runners, was resurrected in 2006 by Perkins and race organisers Peterborough City Council.
Over the last decade Perkins has continued to support the event which has become a highlight in the city’s sporting calendar.
Councillor Lucia Serluca, cabinet member for city centre management, culture and tourism at Peterborough City Council said: “The Perkins Great Eastern Run is an important event for Peterborough. Not only is it a great opportunity to bring people together from all over the city and its villages, but it also showcases our city to people who travel even further to take part.
“We have a lot to be proud of in Peterborough and the success of this event really demonstrates that. Growing every year, it is a real highlight on the calendar for runners and spectators alike.”
To coincide with the official launch of the Perkins Great Eastern Run 2016, Perkins and Peterborough City Council have agreed a three year extension to the existing sponsorship agreement, securing the race’s future through to October 2018.
“We're proud to be associated with such a prestigious community event which brings together thousands of runners from across the city and region for both the half marathon and the Anna’s Hope Fun Run,” said Richard Graves, marketing promotions manager at Perkins.
“Our decision to continue our commitment to the event for a further three years is a positive reflection on the race, as well as the organisers, running clubs and supporters, all of whom give their time to ensure the Perkins Great Eastern Run is a success, year after year.”
Perkins and Peterborough City Council also revealed a new race logo, designed to appeal to a wider audience and mark an exciting new phase for the city based event.
Councillor John Holdich, leader of the city council said: “Enormous thanks go to Perkins for their continued, loyal support every year as our main sponsor. Their contribution is what makes this excellent event possible.”
Indeed, Perkins and Peterborough City Council are hoping that the Perkins Great Eastern Run 2016 will be the biggest event yet with more runners signing up to take part than ever before.
