Free training sessions
If you are thinking about taking part in the 2019 Perkins Great Eastern Run but need a little extra help to get you prepared for the big race, then why not come along to one of our free training evenings?
Runners of all abilities are welcome to attend the free training sessions that take place at the Peterborough Embankment Athletics Track. The training sessions have been organised by Advance Performance and are held in conjunction with experienced runners and coaches from local running clubs, who will lead the runs.
Each training session begins at 7pm with a warm up. Runners will be divided according to level of fitness and aspirations before being taken for a training run.
You can take part in a 50-minute run at whatever pace you like (25 minutes out and 25 minutes back) on a picturesque route from the athletics track along the River Nene.
On the track there will be two sessions, each led by a coach and an assistant coach. One will be a 'zero to 5k' session, progressing over the seven weeks to enable complete beginners to complete the Anna's Hope Fun Run. The other will be focused on those already able to run 5k or 10k and wishing to develop their speed and fitness for the half marathon.
You can also meet some of our race day pacers http://www.perkinsgreateasternrun.co.uk/half-marathon/pacers at each session.
Free parking is available at the Regional Fitness and Swimming Centre car park and the athletics track has full changing and shower facilities.
Training sessions take place on every other Wednesday from July.
